FlexiRest - Flexible respite program
NSW also offers a flexible respite program called "FlexiRest". FlexiRest funds a range of respite-related services either in-home or out-of-home for people with progressive neurological disorders, their families and carers.
Some examples include:
- In-home respite where the respite is provided in your home for a nominated period of time
- Short breaks, for example support for the whole family to go on a short holiday together
- Peer support/age appropriate respite involving leisure and recreation activities with people of similar age and interests
- Transport support for you to access respite services
This new initiative operates with funding from the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) and is run by a consortium consisting of Muscular Dystrophy Association of NSW, Motor Neurone Disease Association of NSW and MS Australia - ACT/NSW/VIC.
It is provided to eligible people who have a demonstrated need that cannot be met by existing respite services.
