When 21 year old Rachael Rees was asked to nominate her preferred charity as part of her involvement in the Miss World Australia competition, it was immediately clear to her which charity she would choose. Rachael's Aunty Jenny has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) so it was a given she would fundraise for MS Australia - ACT/NSW/VIC.

Rachael is passionate about making a difference to the lives of people living with MS. She organised a major fundraiser in Wagga Wagga, the biggest regional centre near to where she grew up in the Riverina area of NSW. The "Laughter is the Best Medicine" function raised much needed funds and awareness in the Wagga community. "The most rewarding part of the event was the joy it brought to my Aunty knowing I was trying to make a difference," Rachael says.
Rachael won the Miss World NSW title earlier this year and was a finalist in the Miss World Australia competition in July. Winning the NSW title has given her a greater voice and afforded her a wonderful opportunity to raise the awareness of MS not just in her local community, but around NSW and Australia.
In her role as an MS Ambassador, Rachael also visits schools to help promote the MS Readathon and educate students about MS and how it affects people and their families. "I feel so privileged to be given this opportunity to become an MS Ambassador. I have the chance to make a real difference to a cause I feel so passionately about," she says
