"Love Conquers All"
MS Ambassador Claire Swan says the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, the most common chronic neurological disease of the 20-50 age group, has not changed the "inner me" and has just presented the odd challenge, and that is how she has decided it will stay!

This delightful woman previously was a registered nurse commencing her career at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and then expanded her beloved career into diverse areas including as a sole practitioner in Bush Nursing, Aged Care and District Nursing. Claire also married and raised two beautiful children while living in East Gippsland and was heavily involved in her local community.
Life took an unfortunate turn with a marriage break up but taking up her role as district nurse in a new location provided her with the "special honor" of assisting people to retain independent living. With her children now caring young adults and requiring a much needed break she took a trip to visit a cousin on a beautiful Papua New Guinea tropical island. This trip was about to turn this impressive woman's life in other unexpected directions.
While holidaying in this tropical climate, Claire, unbeknownst to her, met her future husband. In contrast to the tropical climate Claire's nursing antenna went up when both her feet felt like they were "sitting in buckets of ice". Subsequently this intuitive lady sought medical advice which is few and far between 4 degrees south of the equator. Nurses are the worlds best in self diagnosis and suspecting multiple sclerosis she sensibly traveled back to Australia to consult a neurologist resulting in a definite diagnosis being confirmed.
With treatment, good management and excellent communication, life took another turn and she threw in her job and followed her heart back to PNG and in 2008 Claire and Neil have been happily married now for 4 years and are living on the Mornington Peninsula. Love conquers all!
MS Australia - ACT/ NSW/VIC highly recommends MS Ambassador Claire Swan as your preferred speaker, who desires to actively contribute to the MS community by educating, motivating and advocating as an inspirational MS Ambassador.
