These special events give you an opportunity to hear a holistic health message about changing health behaviours and adopting healthy lifestyle practices. The focus of the day is on the importance of diet, nutrition, physical activity and stress management in living well with MS. Come and try a range of health promoting activities such as yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, massage, Heartmoves for MS, strength training and nutritious foods from local providers in the community. Hear from popular keynote speaker, Dr Craig Hassed.
Wellness Days are held periodically throughout the year and at a variety of locations across Victoria.
About Garth
Garth McLean will be teaching a workshop on managing Multiple Sclerosis through the application of
Iyengar Yoga.
Diagnosed with MS in 1996, Garth has successfully managed the condition for over 15 years with a disciplined yoga practice based on the guidance of BKS Iyengar and family. Garth's determination and daily practice have played an integral role in keeping his MS symptoms in remission. This has motivated Garth to share his experience with others with MS and their teachers. He has served as a guest teacher at the 2009 France Iyengar Yoga Teachers' Convention in Sommierres, France and in 2011 at the Spain Iyengar Yoga Teachers' Seminar.

Morning Sessions
Based on the classical yoga postures, adopted and adapted to suit the needs of students with MS.
Afternoon Sessions

Maximising Your Strength is a successful gym-based exercise program. Classes are held at various locations across Victoria. Set up in partnership with MS Australia – ACT/NSW/VIC, these exercise groups are run locally by qualified and accredited personal fitness trainers with a special interest and training in MS. Classes are designed to improve muscle strength, balance and physical stamina, with the added benefits of enhanced sense of wellbeing and opportunity to have fun.

Aqua classes are popular among people living with MS, as the buoyancy of water can enable them to move freely and do more than they could accomplish on land. The classes are designed to improve strength, endurance, core strength and balance.

Yoga is a system of exercises which help improve your breathing and posture and can help induce a state of relaxation. It can also help manage pain and stiffness in muscles and joints. Yoga is usually taught as a sequence of poses and breathing exercises.

MS Australia – ACT/NSW/VIC, together with the Heart Foundation, is delighted to announce Heartmoves for MS. The Heartmoves program focuses on delivering safe, low-to-moderate intensity exercise. Classes incorporate gentle aerobic activity, weight-bearing or resistance exercise, and stretching – all of which help to build strength and fitness as well as improve balance.
Can't sing? Neither can we, but we have fun trying! Come along for some laughs and good company.
