The feelings you experience as you go through your caring journey can be some of the most confusing and overwhelming you will ever encounter. Counselling can help you make sense of your new or ongoing life as a Carer, whether in specific areas such as dealing with bereavement or separation from a loved one, or with the more general feelings of stress, anxiety and depression you may experience in your caring role.
A counsellor may help you to manage conflict in your caring role as well as the many other issues affecting the emotional wellbeing of Carers. Counsellors at Carers ACT are qualified professionals who specialise in caring issues. All Carers are welcome to access our confidential counselling service in a supportive environment.
Keeping In Touch - You can access our counselling services at our offices at our Belconnen and Torrens offices. Confidentiality is our priority. We will endeavour to find you an appointment as soon as possible. Counselling services are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Organise an appointment by contacting us on: 02 6296 9900. If you are phoning after hours, please leave your name, contact number and a time when you can be reached at this number. Your call will be returned the same or next working day.

The National Carer Counselling Program (NCCP) seeks to provide short term counselling through professionally qualified counsellors via brokerage partnerships. Counselling will focus on issues, such as:
The program will ensure that the counselling service is well integrated with forms of information, education, supports/services, ensuring links to the wider community. The program opens opportunities for the carer to experience ' Talking Over' their issues in a professional supported environment. 'Someone to listen' can be a rare opportunity for carers. The program is subjected to fees in accordance to the Home and Community Care Fees Policy, noting that there are safeguards to allow fees to be reduced or waived in accordance to the carer's capacity to pay and fees are capped where several HACC services are being accessed.
