The Board of Directors of Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MSL), the merged MS Societies of ACT, NSW and Victoria, has a broad mix of skills and experience and over 100 years of cumulative experience serving as directors of MS Societies. Aileen Feeney was elected to the Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of New South Wales in 1999 as a Non-Executive Director and became an MSL Director subsequent to the consolidation of the Multiple Sclerosis Societies of NSW & Victoria in 2006.
She has considerable business experience in community services and corporate and financial services, including positions with a major financial institution as Corporate Affairs Manager. Aileen established her own training and consulting business in 1993 which provided marketing, small business management and communication services to both government and business enterprises.

Carolyn White was appointed to the Multiple Sclerosis Limited Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director in 2009.
She has a diverse background in finance, having worked across a variety of businesses including mining, corporate banking, professional services, manufacturing, wholesale and import/export businesses during her career. Positions have included Business Development, Credit Executive and Regional Executive.
A career banker having spent 28 years with the National Australia Bank, Carolyn holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Management. Her current position is Head of Inclusion & Diversity for Business Banking which includes core responsibility for the strategy and implementation for 6,000 employees in this part of the Australian Region business.
She is personally committed to making a difference in people's lives. Growing up in Ballarat, Victoria, her father was a person with MS which was undiagnosed for many years. This life experience has contributed significantly to her desire and dedication to support people with a disability and to contribute to a more inclusive society.
Chris Gillies was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Victoria Board in 1991 and to the Boards of the Multiple Sclerosis Societies of New South Wales and Victoria in 2003 and as Chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Limited Board in 2006. She also serves on the Boards of our subsidiary Australian Home Care Services, Multiple Sclerosis Australia (MSA) and Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia (MSRA).
Chris brings to the Board extensive executive experience in mergers, acquisitions, organisational change and information technology. She is an independent Non-Executive Director serving on a number of boards and committees and advises boards on establishing IT Governance leadership in the boardroom. She also uses her current and past experience as an executive mentor and facilitator. Boards include Oakton, Corporate Express, Emergency Services Telecommunications Statutory Authority Victoria and CenITex.
Prior to her board career, Chris was Group Executive, Group Services at St George Bank where her role included managing the integration with Advance, Chief Information Officer for the Bank of Melbourne and Victorian Director of the DMR Group, an international IT consulting company where she specialised in mergers and acquisitions and in designing and implementing major IT change programs to deliver business results.
Chris has over 20 years experience as a Director and more than 40 years experience in business management and information technology.

Garry Whatley was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Multiple Sclerosis Limited Board of Directors in 2009. He brings to the Board over 24 years experience in the Information Technology industry and is well respected within his field. In 2006 he received an award from the CIO Executive Council for his contribution to the IT Industry in Australia.
His current role is Chief Information Officer for Corporate Express Australia. Prior to joining Corporate Express, Garry held the role of General Manager of Information Technology, Telecommunications and e-Business for Sony Australia Limited. He has also provided consulting services to a number of medium to large Australian organisations in the corporate and government sectors.
Having both family and friends living with MS, Garry is passionate about and has a strong personal commitment to making a significant contribution to the goals of Multiple Sclerosis Limited through his extensive professional skills.
Ian Pennell was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of ACT in April 1999 and retired from the position 24 October 2000, subsequent to which he was elected Vice-President of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of ACT 25 October 2000. In 2003 he was appointed President. Further to the merging of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of NSW/VIC with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of ACT in 2008, Ian was appointed to the MSL Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director and is Chairman of the MSL ACT Regional Advisory Board.
He is also a Director and Vice President of Multiple Sclerosis Australia, a member of the Executive Committee of Multiple Sclerosis Australia.
Ian has extensive experience in management, including commerce, the military and the not for profit sector. In 1987 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (Military Division) for his outstanding contribution to resource management. Promoted to Colonel in 1987 he was appointed Director Defence Force Health Services Staff, Headquarters Australian Defence Force. Following 24 years military service, Ian joined CARE Australia as a member of the senior management team from 1992-1998, holding the positions of Director Overseas Program, Director Operations, Director Administration and Company Secretary.
Having friends living with MS, Ian is committed to minimising the impact on those living with MS.
Lisa Pettigrew was appointed to the Multiple Sclerosis Limited Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director in March 2010. Her appointment augments the breadth of expertise of MSL Directors, adding high level public sector, health and human services experience.
She brings to the board over 15 years experience in IT, business and change program management and delivery, particularly in the public sector, along with a deep understanding of Australian State and Federal government, policy, funding and intergovernmental processes and the wider health sector. She also has expertise in relationship development, program leadership and in particular complex, multi-agency stakeholder engagement, management and facilitation.
Well connected throughout the Australian government and health sectors, she is also a strategic and trusted advisor to senior government and health officials.
Lisa is currently the Australian Director, Health Services at CSC – a large, international technology services company and the world’s largest health systems integrator. She was formerly a Partner in a large international management consultancy, during which her roles included Director, Public Service Health Practice in Asia Pacific.
Lisa has family experience of MS. She is a co-founder of the MS Angels group, an MSRA fundraising initiative.
Paul Murnane is a past Chairman of MSL and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of NSW (and a Director since 1996) and a Director of Multiple Sclerosis Australia (MSA) and Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia (MSRA). He chairs the Investment and the Nominations and Remuneration Committees and serves on the Audit and Risk Committee of MSL.
An investment banker and company director with over 35 years diversified experience in financial services, consulting and general management in Australia and overseas, he is a Senior Adviser of independent corporate advisory firm O'Sullivan Partners. He is also an advisor to a number of boards and Chief Executive Officers.
Paul is a Director of several listed and private companies and serves on the boards and committees of a number of organisations involved in social welfare services, public policy, the arts, education and corporate governance.
He has family experience of MS.
Rob McEniry was appointed to the Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Victoria as a Non-Executive Director in 1998 and became an MSL Director subsequent to the consolidation of the Multiple Sclerosis Societies of NSW & Victoria in 2006. He is also a Director of our subsidiary, Australian Home Care Services and a member of the MSL Audit and Risk Committee.
He brings to the board extensive marketing and management expertise both in Australia and overseas. His experience is primarily within the automotive industry, along with the auto supplier sector, housing and construction and biotechnology industries.
His current position is Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited. Previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of SPT Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Nucleus Network Limited.
Rob has family experience of MS.
Peter Day joined the MSL Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2007. He was appointed Chairman of the MSL Audit and Risk Committee in 2008. He also serves on the Board of Multiple Sclerosis Australia (MSA).
He has extensive professional financial and general management experience in a range of industries including mining, manufacturing, food and financial services, along with a number of public interest areas.
Peter’s last Executive role was as Chief Financial Officer for the global packaging group Amcor; he has held Senior Executive and Director positions with Bonlac Foods, Rio Tinto, CRA and Comalco.
He is a former Chairman of the Australian Accounting Standards Board, and was Deputy Chairman of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission. Current Directorships include Chairman of Orbital Corporation Limited and Centro Retail Trust, and Non-Executive Director of Ansell Limited and SAI Global Limited
Peter is also a member of the Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board and was appointed a member of the Takeovers Panel in February 2010.
Andrew Long joined Multiple Sclerosis Limited in 2007 as Company Secretary for Multiple Sclerosis Limited, Multiple Sclerosis Australia, Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia and Australian Home Care Services.
Andrew has over 20 years experience in various management roles including Company Secretary for Bendigo Bank. His areas of expertise include Corporate Governance and risk based reporting and compliance structures.
He is also Company Secretary for the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal (FRRR).
