"Never give up"

"I was so ignorant of this devastating condition" was how Daniel felt a decade and a half ago following a definite diagnosis of the most common chronic neurological disease of the 20-40 age-group.

Born in Uruguay, South America and migrating with his family to Australia as a youngster, life moved along nicely, as an adult many of his personal life goals were achieved. A successful career in the community development/social work area, marriage and fatherhood gave Daniel the feeling that life was good. Being a keen traveler, Daniel and his family, were in the Northern Territory when he first became unwell. Later these symptoms were confirmed as his first MS exacerbation.

A world wide search for answers to this incurable disease led Daniel to MS Australia – ACT/NSWVIC to further his knowledge about multiple sclerosis and its management. Unfortunately disease progression significantly affecting his mobility resulted in Daniel retiring from the workforce. However, when one door closes another opens.

Fundraising for MS Australia became a priority for this empathetic and friendly gentleman. Participating in fundraising, particularly the MS Bike Challenge with whom as an outcome he visited China, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

MS challenges Daniel on a daily basis but he never gives up for himself and his dedicated and devoted wife, daughter and extended loving family. The next challenge for this proactive young man is volunteering as an MS Ambassador to educate, motivate and advocate about the challenges of living with multiple sclerosis. This he is willing to do via public speaking sharing his experiences of the challenge MS brings.

Spanish being his native language Daniel looks forward to speaking to the Spanish speaking community.
