You will never be quite the same once you hear the amazing story MS Ambassador Chinh will happily share with you. Having escaped war torn Vietnam three decades ago travelling via the family fishing boat, this delightful gentleman then settled in a Philippines refugee camp. Fortunately Chinh was granted approval to legally immigrate to Australia as a 21 year old with a brand new future ahead of him.

At first adjusting to a new country and culture was somewhat bewildering and a challenge, with little English and unstable living conditions, but the ever optimistic Chinh remained positive that life would find a path to a better future.

But life is unpredictable - Chinh experienced sudden double vision and dizziness.

This led a very nervous Chinh to seek medical advice which resulted in poor outcomes due to language difficulties with Chinh wondering if health professionals thought he was "making it up".

Later a second episode severely effected his mobility resulting in hospitalization and lengthy rehabilitation and a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Chinh understandably wondered if his promising new life was over, and he wondered what is this sickness MS? It can't even be translated into Vietnamese.

Turning to MS Australia - ACT/NSW/VIC for support and guidance provided much needed education, support and stable accommodation. Today Chinh looks well and is well although maintains considerable management strategies to negotiate his limited mobility. A positive attitude and sense of humour has propelled this effervescent and gentle man to believe if you are happy you can leave your challenges and problems behind, overcome your fear, think positive and most importantly focus on helping the people around you which is a good and positive path to follow.
